Running the Race

Hebrews 12:1-2 (KJV)
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Have you been spiritually sluggish lately? It’s easy to lose our focus on the Lord. There are many weights out there today, such as discouragement, hopelessness and the like. What weight is weighing you down? We must keep Jesus in the forefront of our lives so we can run the race without any hindrances.

To keep Jesus in the forefront is sometimes very difficult, so we must commit ourselves everyday to prayer and bible reading, which will give us strength to run this difficult race.

While we’re running this race, we’ll encounter spiritual cramps. Satan is definitely a cramp who nips at our heels? Rebuke him like Jesus did, and enemy will have to flee.

Sometimes, we get very thirsty, especially if the sunrays of life’s trials are beating down on you. Where do you go for some relief? We must take a deep drink of that living water, of God’s Spirit to revive us spiritually, so we can pick up our stride again.

What happens if I didn’t run the race very well today? Don’t give up! Jesus didn’t give up. He went to the cross for you and I.

Remember, heaven is cheering us on, so run the race well.
