An Offering of Praise

Hebrews 13:15 (TEV)
"Let us, then, always offer praise to God as our sacrifice through Jesus, which is the offering presented by lips that confess Him as Lord."

How many of us in our daily lives as Christians fail to consistently praise God for His goodness and mercy? In our day to day activities it is very easy to take the blessings God bestows on us for granted. Without difficulty we can habitually forget to give praise to God for all He does for us.

If we learn to consistently praise God in our daily prayers and in our thoughts, the power of the things that trouble us will diminish. This does not mean troubles, even serious crises, will not come upon us from time to time. But it does mean that they will not have the strength to weaken our trust, our faith, in God. They will have less of an ability to steal the rest that Jesus provides when we are in a saving relationship with Him.

Praise is one of the best offerings we can give to God. It is an offering that is pleasing to Him and ennobling to us when we give it to Him in sincerity. God does not ask us to praise Him because He has an insatiable ego. On the contrary, He wants us to praise Him because it is of benefit to us. It teaches us to be thankful and content no matter what life throws at us. Praising God helps us to cope with life's difficulties and keep things in proper perspective. It helps us to stay focused on the things that are above.

May the Lord help us to remember to give Him praise for all that He has done and all that He does for us.
