Answers to Tough Questions

Following is a list of question and objections often raised by unbelievers. The answers to them are arranged in a brief outline form so you can quickly get an idea of what kind of responses can be made. Please remember that these are not "the" right answers, only answers that can help you in your witnessing encounters.

When you need to answer a question from an unbeliever, take a moment to pray and let the Holy Spirit work in your heart and mind and trust Him to give you the wisdom when you need it. You will be amazed at how well and how often He will do just that.

I am not a sinner. I am already religious.
What is sin? I don't need God.
I am too big a sinner. I have things I need to do before I become a Christian.
What is salvation? I prefer to remain open minded.
What do I do to get saved? I already believe in God.
Is baptism necessary for salvation? I'll choose God later.
I am already good enough. There are too many hypocrites in the church.
I am doing the best I can and I'm sincere. Why are we here? Or, Why did God make us?
I am skeptical. What about those who have never heard
the Gospel?
I tried Christianity once. Jesus is only one of many great men of history.
I knew some Christians once and
they wronged me.
Why is there evil and suffering in the world?
I'll take my chances. What makes Jesus so special?
I am not that bad a person. Why did Jesus have to die in order for me
to go to heaven?
I am too old or too young. What makes you think the Bible is
the word of God?
I can't believe in a God who would send
people to hell.
The Bible was written so that it would only look like Jesus fulfilled prophecy.
I will worry about it in the next life. The Bible is full of contradictions.
I don't want to give up what I like doing. How do I know which religion is right?
Christianity is boring Religion is whatever you feel is right.
I am an atheist. I don't believe in God. All religions are different paths to the same place.
I am trying to be a Christian What about dinosaurs and evolution?
