Are You Playing Footsie
With the Devil?

As I was attempting to go to sleep the other night, the Holy Spirit asked me whether I was playing footsie with the devil. The word "footsie" refers to a flirting game where two people touch feet under a table or otherwise concealed place, often as a romantic prelude. When we sin, we're playing footsie with the devil.

As a believer our concealed place is our heart where the love of God presides, or the love of sin presides. The love of God is a sacrificial love that Jesus grants us. The love of the enemy is the destruction of our soul.

We can never be without sin, but with the Holy Spirit's help, we can sin less. So, the next time you feel tempted to sin, make the choice not to play footsie with the devil, which displeases God, but attempt to fight the temptation which pleases the Him.
